I'm rather hard with my mower .. and sometimes things just break .. as you can imagine summer took its toll and the belt cover for some reason decided to fall off, think it was that rather raised patio slab which in now fixed with my big hammer .. still getting back to the belt guard I purchased this one on line and it's a perfect fit and my mower is back into full operation.. roll on the summer )) Just a reminder, do not turn the mower on its side to fit the guard, oil in the carb is a no no, read your instruction manual Happy mowing gang

This fitted perfectly into my Mountfield SP454. It is the second time I've replaced the belt guard in 8 years and the reason is the guard can crack when stones are thrown up. This can cause the plastic for the one of the 2 screw fixings or the nut and bolt holding the guard in place to break. This can eventually lead to it becoming loose which in turn allows grass cuttings to get inside clogging up and impeding the belt which gets dislodged.

I've bought a few of these as they tend to take a hammering under the lawmower. This is the strongest one I've had yet, seems like a OE quality part, and I reckon this is outlast the previous ones by the feel of it. Irony is it wasn't anymore expensive either. If you want one of these buy this one.

Its just a bog standard belt guard. However, you do need to be careful when removing the existing fasteners, after a while the screws get corroded and slots fill up so its necessary to clean the slots to get a cross point screw driver to fit.

Perfect solution to a common problem with Mountfield mowers due to a poor piece of original design. Excellent value.
