I do house cleaning and have been using Hoover canisters for years from the Celebrity, Dimension 1000, PowerMax and previous Windtunnel bagged series. I have also tried some Eurekas, Kenmores, Panasonic, Aerus Electrolux and a Riccar. I have not found any canister that is terrific in every way possible. Each one has something that needs improved. However, so far I am very happy with this Hoover. I ordered this for one of my clients and we've had it only about 6 weeks now. The suction is terrific, the carpet cleaning power is terrific. It is the same Windtunnel powerhead from the previous original Hoover Windtunnel canisters which preceded the newer "Anniversary Edition" series. What changed is the suction unit with more power, better sealed, better filtration, better cord rewinder, and cord quality, telescopic wand, with quick foot pedal release. Hopefully they hold up. The new floor brush is very nice, it's horsehair, which is very gentle on the floor and any hair that collects on the brush vacuums or pulls off easy. This is an improvement over Hoover's previous floor tool which cleaned floors very well but hair and lint got stuck in it quite easy and was hard to release. The turbo tool is also great. The other attachments I am not happy with. The crevice tool is very short and thinner than I like. Riccar, Hoover and other companies are switching to this new style combination dusting/ upholstery nozzle that is long, but slender. For dusting its not bad, but as an upholstery tool or stairs its quite awkward and there's no bristle for hair removal or grooming the surface. Hoover should have kept its previous upholstery nozzle with the rubber "fingers". Those were terrific. The other cons aside from attachments are: -- the hose is stiffer, and harder to maneuver. Several companies are switching to a crush proof hose which is a strange material that supposedly bounces back to life after being walked on, driven over, etc. However its a little stiff, harder to juggle and if turned the wrong way can twist to completely close the suction. -- The rubberized wheels maneuver smoothly on floors and don't scratch. But they're too small to run over the machines cord. I don't like vacuums that can't run over their own cord!! This is also an issue on Miele, Riccar and others. -- The powerhead is the original and Hoover hasn't made any improvements since its debut several years ago. Anyone with experience with this powerhead knows that within a year the front wheel axles will squeak, in about 3 years the rear wheels with axle will start getting stuck and need replaced. The belt is a stretch belt, not cogged, or V groove style. Hair will get stuck on the rubber supports from where the headlight attaches directly ontop of the suction duct. The bottom of the neck isn't sealed properly so the lock position will wear out after about 1 1/2 years and over time the neck will become wobbly. But the powerhead does clean carpets quite well, it is brushed edge cleaning with agitator up to both sides of the unit and special rubber fingers on the end to grab dirt along walls. Overall for this unit, I rate it a good unit, good buy. Its one of the best units in the $300 or less price range. It cleans phenominally, has great filtration with a large dirt bag capacity. The hose is a standard size so it will fit attachments from many other compRead full review
Hoover's answer to the Miele , I used to work at a vacuum store that sold Miele, and this is a good runner up.( I can't afford the Miele on a student's buget)so this was a good choice. Awesome vacuum for the price. , powerhead agressive and really gets the dirt out of the rugs. it stores easily. and is very powerful. Only buy GENUINE HEPA hoover S bags, don't use the standard S bags they won't seal right. so when you buy this vacuum, make sure to buy a couple packs of bags for it too, don't get the cheap ones either.Get the real hepa hoover bags. The hose is not perfect, but ok. I stopped it up with a toothpaste cap. there is a wire that runs inside the hose and it protrudes in to the suction opening. so don't pick up any large particles and you will do fine. it is overall a great vacuum. I have no regrets about buying it at all. Glad I didRead full review
This is my 2nd Hoover Canister Cleaner. I obviously loved my 1st one (which still works great, just wanted to upgrade to newer features); and wanted to stay with Hoover. The ONLY thing I'm disappointed with is that I wish they would have stayed with the 'power slide' on the handle, instead of buttons on the canister. I'm sure they have good reasons, but it sure was handy and used a lot! If vacuuming small bathroom rugs, you need to turn the suction down to low and on my other model I could do that on the handle; now I have to go over to the canister and use my foot to turn it up and down, (it's just not as convenient). I absolutely love everything else! The best improvement is the foot pedal to disconnect from the vaccum head and be able to use the long nozzle for hard to reach places!! Wow, I LOVE it!! So, over all, I had to give up the suction power on the handle, but gained in others. Oh, and the wheel movement is much better on this new model. And the power is amazing! You will LOVE this vacuum!!Read full review
Canister vacs are hard to find now-a-days...and we are really satisfied with this unit. Everything from the appearance to the suction power and HEPA system is great. If you are looking for a canister vac for the home - this is definitely one to take a look at. The only draw backs in design is the hose action - which tends to make you twist it a certain way to get it where you need it to be...and he wheels are a tad small...so it doesn't always easily roll over some obstacles (cord, etc.) But overall - a great unit for the price we found on Ebay.
When our hose broke I thought it was the end of using the vacuum. To find this part and have it shipped so quickly to keep the vacuum working was absolutely wonderful. Part was as descibed, fit as needed and overall +++
