There's nothing too clever about this game, just guns, grenades and bodycounts. The AI is pretty good and as the game progresses so does the intelligence of the enemy, so don't expect them to stay put while you take pot shots at them! The graphics are slick and not once did the game get 'stuck' at doorways/checkpoints etc... Resistance 3, ahem! Other plus points are there there are a couple of large scale battles in which your computer controlled allies can actually be of some use other than cannon fodder. The weapons are realistic, with the flame thrower needing a special mention for the sadistic. The big annoyance is the stupid 80's action movie dialogue, it's not as bad as Killzone 3 (a rushed out cash cow that has no improvements and is even dumber) and another niggle is that it doesn't have the different character options or the array of weapons that the original Killzone for the PS2 had. Over all nothing groundbreaking but good fun none the less. So far I've been a little disappointed with what the PS3 has to offer and game makers have yet to truly push the PS3 like GTA San Andreas did for the PS2. Come on guys, let's see what the PS3 can REALLY do.Read full review
It's one of those games that should go to the end, because after we have completely different impression than the first few hours of intercourse with the title. After all plots Killzone 2 falls feebly on the background of this Call of Duty 4, which pushes us further not only the pace, but by a diversity action. After completing the single player got the impression that this is a beautiful looking show for PS3, which just failed to be a great game. Guerrilla Games but perhaps too focused on graphics and scoring, and have forgotten that this game should be something more supportive. For me, stuff is not enough, because even though I could fall in love with some of these excellent weapons and reloading animations of each of them, it still was not enough, I pushed the stubborn forward.
The Good: 1) One of the best graphics on the PS3. 2) Action loaded. The Bad: 1) Very bad story and forgettable characters, you just don't care if your very best friend dies in this game. 2) Developers tried to give to much realism in the gameplay, it sounds like a good idea but it's not, personally i just want to have fun, and reality is not fun (that's why i play video games). 3) The game just feels too generic ("been there, done that"), it doesn't try to do anything new. 4) No cop-op split screen. The gameplay time for the single-player campaign is approximately 6-7 hours in normal mode. If your here just for the action then this is your game, but don't bother with the story.
The storyline is ok, has characters you could not less about, but the action/gameplay is just unreal and that's what counts. This is landmark shooter for the ps3. It's a classic. If only the story and characters were up the standard of the gameplay. But I guess that's where it really counts, and it plays like a dream. Relentless!
