Much heavier camera for a digital, although I have only been able to use it as a manual camera...still figuring it out. Lots to learn with it and has lots of tools within it to use. Good camera for the price. Personally, Minolta is as good a product as top cameras. Much of the great photos you see can come from cameras like this as long as the operator knows what he or she is doing and has an eye for taking good pics...not always the instrument used determines quality.
I loved this camera, as it did all that I wanted and more, and captured many fine memories in a clear and crisp fashion. The adjustments available could keep a professional very happy, and yet it works fine as a point-and-shoot as well. I love the fact that it uses AA batteries instead of proprietary battery packs, as it's easy to get replacements when the old ones die. Considering what's available on the market today, I'd say this is a good, high-quality camera to start with. Sure, you can find newer ones with better resolution now, but it's hard to notice the difference with this camera.
I bought this camera because I owned the same model previously, but the flash attachment broke and the camera overall became inoperative. I like the camera except for the inability to charge batteries while they are inside the camera. Also, since I already had the owner's manual for the camera, I could look up functions that were not obvious. Because of the complexity of the camera, I would not advise buying one without the manual.
I was looking for a low priced digital camera since I don't take a lot of pictures, and it appeared this camera would fit the bill. So far I am quite pleased with the camera, just set it on automatic and start taking pictures.
