I have two of these projectors which I use in a 3D projection system and they are very good projectors. The light output is fantastic and with my system, allows viewing with considerable room light. The image is tack sharp and though individual pixels can be seen, these projectors employ a spatial filter which all but eliminates the "screen door effect". Colors are vivid and they have a great gray scale capability. They employ screen shift in both directions and can accommodate screens above or below and off to the side relative to the projector placement. The output is non-polarized, hence valuable for use in a 3D system. My only detraction is that they accumulate dust in the prism area which will make circular "blobs" in the image when the screen goes dark, but these can be removed with compressed air. A bit on the large size and lamp replacements are costly but performance is theater quality.Read full review

Where has this projector been all my life! I cannot say enough about the quality of this projector. Originally I had the PT-AE200U. But when the bulb burned out three years later I thought $350 was too much on an expense so I sold my original PT-AE200U projector. I then tried out a variety of projectors from different companies that would provide the same quality. No way! I was now regretting I ever sold my original projector. But now I understood why the lamps were so expensive. I knew I was destined to return to Panasonic. After reading all the reviews on this projector I bought it used. It had all the features I loved on my original projector. But if I thought my picture was sharp before this projector blew me away! The blacks are perfect. The flesh colors absolutely amazing. Even though the PT-AE200OU was 200 lumens and this projector is only 160 lumens it is actually brighter then my other projector. Let me add the used PT-AE2000U had 900 hours on it already! The only thing that makes sense is the high contrast ratio and 1080p quality somehow boosted the brightness. It is a monster of a projector so do not plan to be dragging it around anywhere. The other limitation is that you cannot get larger than a 90 inch diagonal image. That could be a deal breaker. But that image is the perfect size for a small room. I am situated with a ceiling mount about 10 feet from the screen. I would also recommend a Elite screen with a 1.1 gain. I bought a M100XWH 100 inch 16:9 AR on Amazon at half price. Be sure to buy some black edging tape and you will be good to go. Whether you are watching movies or playing video games you will never be disappointed with the high performance of this amazing projector.Read full review
This is a little big bigger than I had anticipated however, that's not a problem at all. I wish I had bought one of these a long time ago. very easy to use and good image quality. Hopefully it'll continue to serve well for years to cvom, as I'd expect from Panasonic.

Great picture and functionality is great. I've had two prior Panasonic projectors, including the 300U and 700U and this is definitely bigger than those. But love the vertical and horizontal shift.
one of the best projectors ever, best bang for your buck. You wont find a better projector under $2000.
