A fascinating plot, with sub-plots, and a great cast makes this one of my favourite films about Italy in the 1990s. Susan Fleetwood and John Geilgud are at some of their best acting this John Mortimer intrigue. Filmed in the 80/90s when we were staying in Florence when Mortimer was there with the crew. The story is very plausible for Tuscany and the journey to see the Piero della Francesca Trail is fascinating. Each episode is introduced by Carmina Valles the wonderful theme music written by Nigel Hess and sung by Chameleon with Olive Simpson, soprano.

I love this film. It is almost like going on holiday oneself. The characters are beautifully observed and the story is sad, happy, funny and true to life. The acting is wonderful. See it.
