This disc is basically a collection of television performances from the mid sixties onward, concentrating on the original line-up of Roger McGuinn, Gene Clark, Chris Hillman, David Crosby and Mike Clarke. Most of the clips are in black and white with varying degrees in sound and picture quality - which seems to range from very bad to quite good (considering the limitations of television recording at the time). There are also half a dozen clips in colour, these are of a better quality visually with the sound quality acceptable. What makes this DVD worth getting is that a lot of the early tracks are performed live, showing the band performing in front of live and dancing TV audiences - go-go dancers to boot! There are also several mimed clips included. There are multiple repeats of a handful of songs, notably I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better, All I Really Want To Do and Mr Tambourine Man - each performance is quite fascinating and will appeal to the serious fan, with some versions performed by the band at later periods. Stand outs for me were a trippy version of Eight Miles High which features a close up of Crosby's guitar interplay with McGuinn and with visual effects superimposed over the band, and a colour version of Goin' Back from Notorious Byrd Brothers. There are no annoying intros or voice overs from show hosts, only the songs themselves. This footage is screaming out to be remastered and have the soundtrack mixed in 5.1 or even stereo - why no one has bothered to date is really beyond me. It's a great document of a great band and well worth getting, despite the poor quality of some of the songs.Read full review

These are two very short concerts one in 1973 and one in 1977. The 73 concert has the Davies brothers with hair so long it covers their faces for the most part. Also, if the camera zooms in on Dave, Ray is out of focus, etc. The 1977 concert has shorter hair (Ray does a lot of singing with his eyes closed) so their faces can be seen, the lighting is atrocious! The lighting is distoring their faces and is very annoying. I'd rather have bought 1960s black and white. Most of the old favourites are sung and some of the lesser known songs.

Appeox 2hrs 20mins of complete performances of JB either in concert or Tv footage. Two clips early on are not full screen but i used my zoim on the Tv to make it a little better. Sound & vision varies & gets better as it goes. Would have liked more info on the cover or on screen to say who's who or what band, even though i knew most. All in all for the price, this DVD is a must for JB fans.

This is a great live in concert video of the Hammersmith show of 1979, contains many popular tracks, also the dance routines are very energetic and artistic , many changes of costume throughout performance. Wow, wow, wow , it's unbelievable.

Beware that the same 15 tracks and the same concert are also available on 'Gordon Lightfoot Live on Stage - Greatest Hits Live' (Laser Media release). This has totally different artwork front and back. The songs are of course brilliant, but unfortunately the final track -'Canadian Railroad Trilogy' is chopped off before the slower middle section, and it is all so very abrupt and disappointing. The remainder is very entertaining, and value for money at the price I paid.
