Now in its 19th year, World Book Day is an event that is celebrated in over 100 countries around the world, encouraging young people to discover the wonderful world of reading and books.

When is World Book Day 2016?

In 2016, World Book Day falls on Thursday, 3rd March, with a whole host of local and national events designed to get children reading. The biggest of these is the 14million free book vouchers that are issued to schools, which are aimed at getting children into bookshops. These can be exchanged for one of ten free books, or £1 off any other book costing over £2.99.
