VW Audi Seat 1.9 TDI Green 4 Pin Coolant Temperature Sensor - 059 919 501 A

It works
It's hard to find anything imaginative to say about such a sensor, but it fits and works well. And it's cured my engine's starting problems and desire to rev itself randomly. A very good product.

20 pc Diesel Engine Compression Automotive Tester Kit Tool Set 0-1000 PSI
17 May, 2018
Diesel Compression tester
A remarkably low price for such a kit, with the pressure gauge extending up to a useful 1000 PSI. There is one catch, though - the smallest, 10 x 1 glow plug adaptor requires an 11 mm deep socket to use, whereas the actual glow plugs require a 10 mm socket! This may not be a problem for everyone though. Other than that it did the job nicely, once I'd made a Frankenstein's monster adaptor using another compression tester kit!
Millers Oils Diesel Power ECOMAX Fuel Additive Treatment - 500ml 0.5L

Nasty-smelling brown liquid
I've used this in a number of VAG vehicles over the last 10 years with varying results, but there is a trend - better cold starting (less/no smoke and smoother running immediately after starting) and slightly worse fuel economy. My Fabia SDI could give over 80 mpg without the additive, but only 70 ish with it. It does seem to improve torque a little (which made a substantial difference to the almost undriveable Fabia!). In higher mileage engines it can reduce smoke considerably, but for lower mileage ones it seems to cause more smoke. I tend to use this additive from time to time rather than constantly, due to diminishing returns. Why not try it and see what happens? It might work well, it might not!
