Apple Airport Express A1392 MC414B/A WiFi Router AirPlay 2 - BRAND NEW SEALED
30 Apr, 2020
Excellent solution for adding Airplay 2 to any amplifier
I didn't need another router, but the Airport Express A1392 is a neat little router with a very unusual additional feature - it can add Airplay 2 connectivity to any amplifier. This lets me listen to an excellent classical music streaming service called Idagio on my main hi-fi system. It also enabled synchronised playback on an Airplay 2 wireless speaker in another room. This multiroom facility is controlled via an iPad or iPhone. Both analogue and optical digital audio outputs are provided by the Airport Express via a clever dual purpose mini-jack socket (I'm using the optical output). This audio signal is of high quality. Apple's installation instructions could be clearer, hence the deduction of one star, but I got there in the end. I'm still using my original wireless router and the Airport Express is simply being used for its Airplay 2 capabilities.
