BERGEN Tools Us Pro 16pc 1/2 DEEP XI-ON IMPACT SOCKET SET 10-32mm 1402

Deep impact sockets with a little "extra"
Wanted a set of robust deep impact sockets to complement my standard "short" ones. Had these a couple of days so far so not put then to any truly arduous use yet but so far impressed. I'm a retired motor mechanic and whilst these are no "snap on" substitute they are robust serious kit. I've tried them on a number of car parts and they work just like ordinary deep sockets. They are a nice fit on both fixings and the 1/2" drive where they fit to handles/air gun/etc. Feel weighty and solid too. I didn't really understand this Xi-on feature but then I hit me like a lightning bolt when I was "playing with them. The claim is that they can remove 85% rounded of bolts/nuts. The clue is in the wording - not 85% OF rounded off fixings but 85% rounded fixings - get it? in other words as long as its not rounded off more than 85% (ie still has some semblance of a hexagon about it) then the Xi-on grooves will pick up on the remains of the nut/bolt head, as it starts to slip, and dig in. If it digs in enough it should gain purchase and allow removal (or shearing) of the fixing. I will soon be trying this on some very very rusty brake pipe tube nuts (having first cut off the pipe itself flush with the nut) - going to be fun seeing what happens, I think it should work.
2PC Spark Plug Removal Sockets 16mm & 21mm 1/2" Drive Spanner Magnetic Hold 4-18

Surprisingly good
I already have good quality plug sockets in these sizes which I've had for many years. They are very serviceable but have lost their rubber retainers so placing plugs in deeply recessed applications has become an annoying chore involving a piece of stiffish rubber tube followed up by tightening with the socket. Now though, one of these will hold the plug magnetically to stop it dropping down the hole whilst it's being started in the thread and I won't need to swop to another socket to tighten. So, most of the time I'll be using them. The only reservation I have is, because they were cheap, might they crack or split if used on a seriously seized/corroded plug? Maybe I'll use one of my trusty "old soldiers" on the odd occasion when I run across a tight one!
2 x Energizer® LED Cooker Hood Lamp Light Bulb SES / E14 4w 35w Replacement

Brilliant
Existing cooker hood uses 28W Halogen bulbs, one of which is blown. Decided to change to LED for longevity (halogens don't last long) and energy saving. Got very confused about identifying the correct bulb but discovered that a 28W halogen is roughly equivalent to a 40W incandescent which is roughly equivalent to these 4W LED. Anyway, bought these ones, took ages discovering how to remove the cooker hood to access the bulbs, fitted the new bulbs - a simple screw in operation - and they are absolutely fine, giving the same light output as the old halogens as far as I can see. An excellent purchase and I'm very pleased with them.
