As close to simulation as it gets
To sum this game up, if you have played NBA 2k6, it is basically the same game just with super enhanced visuals and better all around gameplay. 24/7 mode is a bit different- you now stand around a court and get "next" on the current games rather than playing organized events like last year. The graphics have improved dramatically. If you want a videogame where your friend will walk by and ask what game you are watching, this is definitely the one. Without a doubt this is THE closest a game has ever got to a basketball simulation. There are also nice touches such as individualized player moves: just about every NBA player from Kobe to Brevin Knight have their own real-life shot forms, and it just adds to the realistic feel of the game when you juke a man and pull up for a signature Kobe fadeaway. Seriously, the only downsides to this game are the high amount of in-game advertisements (I want to shoot myself everytime I see "Toyota - moving forward") and the stupid menu setup (instead of just pressing B to go back, you have to use the right thumbstick and go all the way back to main menu). The soundtrack is the same underground no-name artists like last year, but you will soon get addicted to "Heart Shaped Box" by the Crest, amazing song. In a nutshell, NBA Live 07 doesn't hold a candle to NBA 2k7, and for the amount of play you will get out of this game, the $59.99 pricetag is, for once, actually worth the game.

Still best in the spy genre, but has its flaws
Just like Sam Fisher, Splinter Cell Double Agent is the best in its class. You will not find a better stealth action game on the market right now. That being said, there is still much to be desired in Double Agent. First off, Ubisoft stuck with the tried and true controls and overall gameplay of Chaos Theory, so if you've played the previous Splinter Cell title, you will have no problem jumping right into this game. I was a little dissapointed by the lack of new moves or gadgets for Sam, but the stupendous graphics on HD make up for it. You can actually see the sweat dripping off Sam's neck during the game. Besides nice visuals, this game has a very good storyline. The in between mission scenarios where you must balance your duties as a terrorist against the NSA objectives add a great twist that will keep you on your toes. However, I must say I had an overall lackluster feeling about the game when I finished it in a mere 12 hours and all I got was a less than satisfactory ending. It felt like the producers just wanted to wrap up the game and said "screw this" to the character relationships and development. Multiplayer is where the game really shines. If you have Live, and you like sweating uncontrollably from your armpits as you nervously creep around to a deathly silence, then this is the game for you. In a nutshell: Singleplayer is worth a rental just to see the amazing visuals, but don't expect much replay value. If you have Live, this game will keep your heartrate dancing.

Solid Multiplayer but a bit overhyped
The first thing to understand: the advertised 140+ superhero roster is overhyped. You only get to control around 30 heroes, half of which are second line heroes. Gameplay is almost identical to X-Men Legends II: same button mashing frenzy with special moves and 4 player co-op adventures. What's changed: 28 or so new heroes to choose from, although about half of them are second rate, you will find that you will use a handful the most. Graphics are a lot easier on the eyes than previous xbox titles, but it doesn't look like a next gen title. You can now create your own fantasy hero team with a customizable roster, team logo, and name which you can then take online to play with friends on Live or system link. Bottom line is if you enjoyed X-Men Legends, look to this as the sequel and not a completely new Marvel title. Of the hyped 140 heroes in the game, there are only about 30 playables and some of the best are still left out (Hulk, numerous X-Men, THE JUGGERNAUT). If you are a fan of superheroes and you want a button-mashing game that is fun and satisfying for you and 3 buddies that will last around 20 hours, this is it.
