it had potential
A sci-fi series that just didn't take off.
The episodes successfully tell their stories and depict the culture as they intended, but the characters just don't absorb you in.
I don't know is it is the fault of casting, or director and script writers, but the cast just don't bring you into their universe.
Most new series take a few episodes for the cast to settle into their characters and to develop and evolve, but most of this crew are almost as wooden in the last episode as the first.
For the time it was made, the budget and effects are reasonable.
I suspect that if given a longer run, it may have evolved into a better series.
I have seen far worse than this, but it doesn't reach the heights of other memorable shows.
But don't take my negative commentary as saying avoid it, as I think it is well worth seeing and I'm glad to have added it to my library.

low quality and poorly stored
it will do a job, but only just.
the surface finish is atrocious, there is dust and foreigh material pressed and vulcanised into the surface. Cleanliness was not a factor in the production facility that made this.
Somewhere between manufacture and retail, it has also been poorly stored as it arrived severely warped.
If it was required for a tight tolerance or image critical application it would have been a rejected failure.

better than expected
If you don't try to take it too seriously, then this is a great little bit of escapism adventure.
The concept is relatively original and the settings unique.
It does an excellent job of creating an alternative version of reality as we know it and pokes its tongue out at those who are too anally retentive and take everything too serious.
