With this you can judge the book by the cover....
Quote "This book was basically a list of swear words with pictures " (from another review) . Deeply touching, the authors bring to you a series of disturbing case studies, these poor freak animals are afflicted with the inability to remain cute without uncontrollable outbursts of profanity. It has to be read to be believed.

Floating Palaces
This is the best Liner series I have viewed. If you can forgive the endless plugging of the Cunard Line and the QE2 ( who must be the sponsors ) then the rest is great. What Cunard dont realise is when you show the interiors of some of the greatest liners, Olympic, Normandie and the Queen Mary, then flick back to the QE2 it looks incredibly tacky and cheap. ( I am a fan of the QE2 but there is no competition, and if you watch the series you see exactly what I mean. ) This is made for enthusiasts by enthusiasts with good narration and a broad spectrum of ships from different countries, for example the German ships, which were staggeringly fine. Plenty of ship yard construction scenes, and interiors with details of the designers and their struggles with the ship owners. This is far and away above average viewing. Somewhat rare now so if you get a chance to own a copy do so, if you are a liner fan you won’t regret it.

Great Liners from the Golden Age
If you are just starting to get interested in Liners and don’t own any footage then buy this, it’s a quick ride through the history of the great Liners. If have a number of other dvd’s of similar vein then don’t bother because there is nothing new here. Its not that well researched either, during a general preamble voice over, you see some great footage of the interiors on the Normandie, but later when the subject has moved onto the Normandie itself , a couple of awful pencil drawings flash up as this is the only material they had. Not very good. So the advice is if the Titanic movie made you curious to learn more about the great liners then buy this, and you will realize that the Titanic was a very run of the mill ship that is only remembered for the disaster angle. If you have been a fan for a few years then you will only get frustrated with the shallow flash over and teasing glimpses of the other greats.
