Solved my problem with CEC input selection
I found that devices connected through an HDMI switch were disrupting the CEC input selection on my Smart TV. Using this cable between switch output and TV input solved my problem by disabling the CEC protocol for this particular input, while allowing normal operation for directly-connected equipment.

Sturdy bag for long zoom bridge camera
I found this to be a good size for my long zoom bridge camera (Pana FZ72), with two adjustable partitions to hold it snugly in place. It is well padded and has an internal frame to protect the camera from knocks. Two side pockets provide storage for spare batteries and other small items. The strap is sturdy and attaches to two rings on the bag, unlike the fabric loops provided on some other makes. The rain cover is a nice bonus. I thought it was a quality bag at a reasonable price.

Exact replacement for original
I bought secondhand a DMREZ49 combined VCR/DVD recorder which came without the original remote control and I found that several of the functions could only be accessed via the remote control. This device looks exactly like the image of the remote control pictured in the handbook and works perfectly with the recorder. It is similar but not identical with the remote I have for a Panasonic HDD recorder, but it is possible to set up different code sets for each unit so that they do not interact. While more expensive than generic remote controls I found this to be a very satisfactory purchase which was delivered promptly.
