Optimistic
This sub is a substitute for another which is now past its sell by date. I am pleased with the Wharfedale although I have only had it it the house a couple of days. It needs time to 'bed in' but I am optimistic it will serve me well for many years.

A good analysis and overview
The dynamics of global domination provides a very useful analysis and overview of the concept of empire from the fifteenth century. It is a clearly written and we'll constricted argument of the various phases boffins empire, larticularly in relation to European expansion.
The book provides some history of empire among individual nations but, as explained above, it's realbpurpose is elsewhere. For anyone seeking an insight into the global development of empires this book is worth consideration.
