A Highly Humorous Spin On A Lovable Classic
Having recently seen a heart-warming comedic adaptation of The Wind In The Willows by a group of Cambridge students at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, I was reminded of how much I loved this classic tale of Mole, Ratty, Toad and Badger. I was so excited when I realised I had missed out completely on seeing the all-star film version when I was younger and decided it was a must-have. This version may upset true die-hard fans of the book a little as the story has been somewhat altered, with the weasels trying to set up a dog food factory on top of Mole's house and Ratty and Mole attempting to break Toad out of prison. It's still a darned good yarn though and there isn't a single actor or actress in the whole thing who isn't worthy of their role (and you're pretty much certain to recognise them all too!). The only thing I felt was missing was Hugh Laurie! Kids and adults alike are sure to want to watch this adaptation more than once!

The Review Without Spoilers
If you've never seen this film, the last thing you'll want is a full synopsis! So here's a quick breakdown of why this film is truly deserving of it's 'Disney Classic' label: 1. The heroine isn't your average mamby-pamby Disney princess and is sure to be loved by any little girl who loves being different or beating up her brothers (I speak from experience of course!). 2. Despite being set during a war, this bleak backdrop (although in no way belittled) is brightened by comedy for all the family. From Mulan's hilarious attempts at 'manning up' to Eddie Murphy's wonderfully entertaining voicing of Mushu the dragon. 3. The music is catchy during the songs, making any child (or adult!) want to sing along, and sets scenes beautifully during the rest of the film. 4. The animation is stunning. There is a scene that may remind you a little of the stampede in The Lion King but this time the CGI whizz-kids at Disney look like they really know what they're doing. Each hun is unique (although I don't expect you to have time to check them all!). 5. There is a take-home message of true friendship prevailing no matter what the circumstances and of doing in life what you can do best, even if that's seen as unconventional or different. I hope I've sold it to you! Enjoy!

Very pleased with this item. Only tried it once as keeping for a Christmas present but really looking forward to seeing the person using it regularly.
