HP Laptop Replacement Screens and LCD Panels

If your laptop screen becomes damaged or faulty, if you know what you're doing, replacing just the screen can be cheaper than replacing the entire machine, or paying a third party to repair it for you. HP Laptop replacement screens and LCD panels are great for replacing your screen. When purchasing, you need to bear in mind certain aspects, such as the panel technology type of backlighting, hidden details, image quality and image response time.

Some key features of HP laptop replacement screens to consider are the quality of the colour, whether they have an even distribution of the colours across the screen space, brightness quality, (provided by back-lighting), whether they are HD standard and finally, the finish of the materials (matte or gloss).

Matte and Glossy screens are interchangeable. Matte screens are coated with an anti-reflective (haze) coating or plastic film, which prevents reflections from windows and lights. Glossy screens have a mirror-like surface and will reflect external light sources but this is balanced by sharper and more vivid colours. Where you are going to use the computer is therefore a significant factor to consider when choosing between the two.

HP laptop replacement screens and LCD panels generally have a screen resolution of 1600x900 pixels (incorporating WXGA, a standard common to LCD computer monitors and televisions used for widescreen display and projection), which provide bright and crisp colours. Colours stay firm up to 75 degrees to the left or right.

In all cases, if you want to replace (or buy new) a laptop screen or LCD panel for HP products, it is advisable to check both the model number on the back of the screen and the positioning of the input connectors. Many screen and LCD display manufacturers use different types of screens when assembling a single model. As a result more than one type of screen may sometimes be used by the same laptop model

Once you have fitted your display, it is advisable to make sure the graphics card is functioning by plugging a desktop monitor or TV into the laptop, as most have a standard blue VGA monitor and/or a HDMI output. You need to press certain function keys on some laptops to activate external display output.
