Rollei Bayonet Camera Lens Filters

There are a number of different Rollei bayonet camera lens filters available, some offer interesting effects with your camera. The term 'bayonet' means that instead of screwing on the front of the lens, they snap into place and have no threading, which means that you will need to twist it into place. They are less common compared to other lens filters , as they are slightly more fiddly to secure.

Types of filters

Rolleinar 1, 2 and 3 is a set of camera lenses that are best used for portraits and distances of up to a metre.

UV filters are a must to reduce the amount of UV light entering the camera, as this is not needed to create an image and can quite often cause adverse effects such as black spots and lens flairs. The Rollei UV filter is for black and white photography, which is good for photographing snow or mountains.

The Rollei Orange filter will make yellow light appear lighter and blue light darker. This makes objects in the distance look clearer.

Rolleipol filters are great for getting rid of reflections from surfaces and objects that are shiny. They also regulate the colours and are particularly good for sky photography.

Rolleisoft 0 and 1 filters work by softening the image. These filters are especially effective when lit from behind. Great for weakening the features in faces and creating a 'halo effect'.

Set up

Rollei camera lens filters are installed by attaching the lens to your camera . Insert the filter carefully onto the front of the camera and then turn firmly to the right until it clicks into place.

Buying advice

When buying a filter check for marks and scratches if it is second hand, as severe damage may change the effects you achieve. Some minor scratches are to be expected in a used item and shouldn't cause too many problems when shooting.
