Volvo vehicles have always been known for their safety, and the C30 upholds that tradition. The C30:

• Incorporates a system called Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), which helps overcome “blind spots”.
• Features an anti-lock four-wheel braking setup, traction control system, electronic stability program, and airbags on the side, front, and curtains, rear and front crumple zones, and an occupant cell.
• Has a patented rear and front structure that uses four different steel grades to absorb and reallocate impact energy around its body. Volvo’s ‘side impact protection’ and ‘whiplash protection’ systems are standard on the C30.
• Comes with seat belts that have pretensioners for safeguarding occupants against unforeseen accidents.

The Volvo C30 comes with three levels of audio systems:

• C30 Efficiency (2007): This is a variant of the C30 1.6D with decreased chassis height, a brand-new rear bumper and rear roof spoiler, optimised engine cooling, low friction tyres and transmission oil, engine management optimisation, etc.
• R-Design (2008): This limited variant lets you choose from four body colours. It comes with a centre console with an aluminium inlay and subtle circular patterns, sports pedals and shifter, and a host of other sporty features.
• Black Design (2011): Designed by Berman and Eidon, this limited variant includes a carbon fibre roof finish, a choice of five body colours, Fondmetal 17-inch matte black rims, etc.

Yes. Volvo did come up with a C30 electric car prototype equipped with an electric 82kW motor. Several updated versions of this prototype were released starting in 2009. After having conducted several in-house tests, 15 electric C30s were delivered by Volvo to test the vehicle on open roads. With an estimated top speed of 130 kmph, the car could be recharged using a household power socket.
