Yamaha produced the first YZF R125 in 2008, and it has proved a popular machine with those who have gained their A1motorcycle licence. With its sporty looks, six-speed gearbox, and top speed of 70mph, it is a popular machine with both the young, and not so young, motorcyclists. Motorcycles of 125cc are sought after by young riders who have passed their A1 licence and want to move from mopeds or small scooters to a proper motorcycle. • High-quality Kevlar motorcycle trousers, complete with knee pads, or - failing that - a thick pair of denim jeans should be worn.
• Riding your bike in sandals or trainers is a big no-no whatever the weather. Calf high motorcycle boots with steel toecaps will provide maximum protection for the lower legs.
