Torque Wrenches

Torque hand wrenches for DIY use

A torque wrench is essential for tightening bolts and screws. It means you can set the torque applied to the fastener so it can be matched to the requirements of a particular application. This, in turn, allows effective tension and loading.

There are a large number of torque hand wrenches on the market for a range of purposes, although some of the most popular models are deflecting beam, dual type and digital models. You'll find the ideal DIY tools for any application right here on eBay.

Deflecting beam torque hand wrenches

With its well-tested design in use for more than 50 years, beam torque wrenches are the kind of tool that's passed down through generations. They apply torque to a deflecting beam instead of a coil spring which not only means the wrench will last a long time but also gives excellent accuracy. Its dual signal feature (audible and visible) lets you know when the desired torque is reached.

Dial type torque hand wrenches

Dial torque wrenches are widely thought of as one of the most accurate torque wrenches you can get. It's also the only type of wrench where the reading is not affected by the fact that it's handheld. This type of torque wrench is also wider than many other types so could be tricky to use in tighter situations. The dial scale must also always be visible so you can see the torque being applied.

Electronic/digital readout torque wrenches

Electronic or digital torque wrenches feature a digital readout screen which will allow you to program the torque limit. A strain gauge locates on the torsion rod gives off a signal to a transducer to decide the amount of torque per unit, which is then displayed on the LED screen. Some models also come with an internal computer chip allowing torque measurements to be saved and downloaded to a database so you can keep a record.
