Camera Eyecups for Canon

Camera Eyecups for Canon Cameras

An eyecup makes it easier to take a picture as it minimise extraneous light and vision fatigue, however, the eye is further away from the viewfinder by about 25mm. There can be a slight dimming of the viewfinder at the extreme edges, but it will keep out stray light for long exposures which will enhance your photography experience. It prevents underexposure of the image and also helps to stabilise the camera as it is closer to the body.

The eyecup should be used when the eyepiece is not covered with the eye or when not using the viewfinder with the mirror down and you arent able to see if the exposure is correct. They are manufactured with a soft, durable rubber that are safe to use and provide effective cushioning, as well as shielding stray light, and are usually supplied with the camera as part of the standard equipment.

Types of Canon eyecup

The Canon Eyecup Eg is compatible with EOS-1D Mark III/IV, EOS-1D X, EOS-1Ds Mark III, EOS 7D and EOS 5D Mark III. It is a replacement eyecup that provides cushioning around the cameras eyepiece, particularly useful for people that wear eyeglasses. There is also an anti-fog version that uses specially treated advanced-process glass which will prevent fogging, or condensation, when used in warm, humid or cold weather conditions.

The Canon Eyecup Ef is for digital rebel cameras and slides over the viewfinder. The Canon Eyecup Eb is supplied with most of Canons SLR cameras as standard equipment. The Canon Eyecup Ed is for selected SLR cameras and prevents stray light from affecting the exposure which could make the focusing of the image difficult.

The Canon EP-EX15 II Eyepiece Extender provides a 15mm extension of the cameras eyepiece and reduces the viewfinder magnification by 30%. It will prevent a users face from touching the LCD display or body of the camera and is useful for wearers of glasses.

The Canon Dioptric Adjustment Lens EG (+2) is for use with select EOS cameras and provides a clear viewfinder image for farsighted users. The dioptric adjustments lens fits into the eyepiece holder of the compatible camera. It is available in +3 and +4, as well as -2, -3 and -4 for near-sighted users. A rubber frame is also available.

The Canon MG-Ef Magnifying Eyepiece is for select Canon EOS cameras, and magnifies the image in the viewfinder by approximately 1.2x.
