Tame the Beast: Drive a Mitsubishi Evolution

Mitsubishi EVO is a sports car version based on the Lancer design. It was in production between 1992 and 2016 and was offered as a four-door sedan or a limited edition five-door station wagon. If you're looking to buy a Mitsubishi EVO in the UK, eBay has a growing list of reasonably priced used Mitsubishi Evolution cars.

Types of Mitsubishi Evolution cars

There are almost 10 different generations of the car produced in 24 years. These are sometimes classified by their respective generations such as EVO 1, EVO 2, and EVO 3. The original EVO produced in 1992 was equipped with a five-speed manual transmission that could achieve speeds of 228km/h. The EVO II, produced in 1993, included various handling improvements compared to the first-generation model. Likewise, the third-generation model was thoroughly revised with an improved engine and a number of exterior changes to its body.

In 1996, two versions of the fourth-generation car were produced that were retained in later models. Similarly, EVO 5 had a new interior design, and it came with a number of body kits for customisation. EVO 6 mainly focused on cooling and engine durability. In the seventh generation, a GT-A version was introduced with newer lights.

EVO 8 was available in 2003. It had major changes in style, and it was also available in four different trims. Later, EVO 9 primarily relied on its performance capabilities to impress clients. The last generation is also used as police cars in the United Kingdom. These were produced between 2005 and 2016. These EVO 10 cars offered Mitsubishi's new sequential semi-automatic six-speed SST twin-clutch transmissions. You can find EVO 6 for sale, EVO 8 for sale, and EVO 9 for sale on eBay.

Are there different models of the Evolution IX?

The last generation, the EVO 10, was offered in three different variants. The EVO 10 for sale on eBay is available in these three variants. The RS is the rally sport version with a revised five-speed transmission. The GT version differs from the GS due to added interior features. Similarly, the GSR is a six-speed version that has monotube chocks, an auto air conditioner, a gauge pack, and an aluminium roof.

MR versions of Mitsubishi Evolution

Since the seventh-generation car, Mitsubishi EVO has introduced a variety of special edition MR cars. These are often distinguished by their respective horsepower such as Q300, FQ320, FQ340, and FQ400. It is also important to note that the EVO for sale in the UK is classified as FQ instead of the original MR name used in the United States and other countries. In the UK, three variants of MR were available for sale that include FQ-300 series, FQ360, and MR FQ360. In fact, the six-speed manual transmission used in some of these models is very rare among most cars of this era.
