Isla Balance Bikes
Isla Balance bikes help children learn how to steer and how to balance. They don't have a drivetrain or pedals and are intended for those of a very young age, or for those who have never ridden a bike before. Balance bikes can be made out of metal or wood.
16” Wheel Bikes
16” wheel bikes are often equipped with a drivetrain, V brakes and a metal frame. Isla 16” wheel bikes also have a very low stand-over height, and this means if your child does crash their bike, there is a lower chance of them having a serious accident. On 16” wheel bikes, chain retention devices are installed and this stops the chain from detaching from the chainring when your child moves from the road to mountainous terrain.
20” Wheel Bikes
20” wheel bikes have drivetrains and gears, with a much stronger frame. The wheels are notably stiffer and the frames are robust and lightweight. Isla 20” wheel bikes are equipped with disc brakes or V brakes and these provide consistent stopping power. The braking power with a 20” wheel bike is much more noticeable when compared to the 16” wheel bike. Pedals are also much larger, to accommodate larger and growing feet.
