4 Berth Caravan with Fixed Bed

A 4-Berth Fixed Bed Caravan For Comfort and Convenience

A 4-berth fixed bed caravan has the sleeping quarters available for immediate use. All you have to do after you’ve parked up for the night is plump up the pillows, then slide under the covers. eBay has a wide selection of used, 4-berth caravans with fixed beds for you to choose from.

The storage benefits of 4-berth fixed bed caravan

Fixed bed caravan layouts tend to offer more storage space than foldable variants. Although single berths tend to fold away as seating so limit the potential of integration, a fixed double bed in a 4-berth caravan means that permanent storage solutions can be built-in to areas that won't become unreachable when the sleeping arrangements are fully extended.

Are fixed bed caravans easy to manoeuvre by hand?

The majority of fixed bed caravans are under 1400kg in weight. Provided the weight is evenly distributed inside the caravan, manoeuvring by hand on a solid surface (road or hardstanding), shouldn’t prove problematic. For additional help, there are ‘motor mover’ kits available, which turn the caravan wheels by battery power to make manual manoeuvres even easier.

Are all the beds fixed, in a 4-berth fixed bed caravan?

Most 4 berth fixed bed caravans are available in a two single bed, one double bed configuration, although two double, or four single bed variants are available. Depending on the floor layout of the caravan, it is usually the double bed that is designated as fixed. With a solid door or folding fabric dividers in different models, your sleeping area, and often shower area, can be closed off from the rest of the caravan.

Common 4-berth fixed bed configurations

Different manufacturers offer various layouts that change the position of sleeping, cooking, living, and washing areas. On eBay, you will find 4-berth caravans with fixed beds in a range of different configurations for you to choose from, but the most common are:

  • Side double: Fitted along one side at the rear of the caravan, often with washing facilities in the opposite corner. Other layouts have shower, basin and WC along the rear. With the bed in front and a dividing door, it provides effective en-suite facilities.
  • Island bed layout: The bed is central against the rear of the caravan with wardrobes either side. Washing/shower facilities are usually to the fore of the bed.
  • Traverse island bed layout: More central in the vehicle, the bedhead is against a side wall with the body stretching across the caravan. A walkway at the bottom of the bed allows access to the showering and washing area in the rear.
