Fixed bed caravan layouts tend to offer more storage space than foldable variants. Although single berths tend to fold away as seating so limit the potential of integration, a fixed double bed in a 4-berth caravan means that permanent storage solutions can be built-in to areas that won't become unreachable when the sleeping arrangements are fully extended.

The majority of fixed bed caravans are under 1400kg in weight. • Island bed layout: The bed is central against the rear of the caravan with wardrobes either side. Washing/shower facilities are usually to the fore of the bed.
• Traverse island bed layout: More central in the vehicle, the bedhead is against a side wall with the body stretching across the caravan. A walkway at the bottom of the bed allows access to the showering and washing area in the rear.
