Wheel Loaders

Wheel Loaders

A wheel loader is a piece of loading equipment that has enormous utility at the construction site. This is due to its wide range of loading functions, which it can carry out for an array of loading applications depending on the user and industry requirements. In addition to the loading usefulness, this machine has a long lifecycle as well as a low operating cost.

What are the major functions of a wheel loader?
  • It is used for loading land or sand high into dump truck wagons. In some cases, the machine can even load stones. It is equipped with a front large bucket that can dredge material.
  • Loaders can also serve as large stone grinding mills or stone crushers. Usually, the coral stones would be used as building materials or paving.
  • Some large warehouses use wheel loaders when it comes to handling cargo ship dismantling. This is called stapling, whereby the wheel loader fills up the bulk goods in the warehouses. This is done in collaboration with the excavator.
  • Wheel loaders can be put in a ship hatch to undertake cleaning work. Here, the machine provides bait cargo to the shipping crane since the crane is not able to carry the goods by itself. In general, the wheel loader gets the job of leveling cargo on the dump truck.
  • Wheel loaders can move hoppers that are used in cargo ship dismantling. Here, the machine serves as an aid to the forklift in situations where it is unable to move large hoppers from one place to another.
What are the transmission systems used by a wheel loader?
  • Torque converter transmission: This is a type of fluid coupling whereby two or more rotors are used. One of the rotors may be locked so that the output speeds are in tandem with the engine RPM and the output torque is augmented. This type of transmission allows the loader to accelerate faster and provide greater torque in digging applications.
  • Hydrostatic transmission system. This system uses hydraulics for all the required controls, motors, and pumps. Here, the fluid flowing through the system generates and transmits power. A variable displacement pump attached to the engine pushes the hydraulic fluid forward, thus accelerating or decelerating the machine.
What are the traction management features used by the wheel loader?
  • A loader requires the right amount of traction during grading, digging, or loading trucks. The hydrostatic wheel loader has a traction management feature that helps in reducing wheel slippage, thus allowing for more efficiency in stockpiling, loading, and digging applications.
  • The torque converter transmission style is equipped with an optional or standard lock-up clutch that links the turbine and impeller, thus resulting in no power loss and little slippage.
How versatile is a wheel loader?

By allowing for multiple attachments, a wheel loader can reduce the amount of equipment that is needed on a job site. There is a hydraulic quick coupler for users who want to change non-hydraulic attachments, such as pallet forks, bucket, and other general purpose or light materials. Others may go for a tool carrier iteration with a Z-bar configuration or a parallel-lift linkage.
