The Kawasaki Ninja GPZ 900R was developed in secret at Kawasaki over a period of six years. When it was released in 1984, it was a 908cc four-cylinder bike that could reach 240 km/h. The Ninja was Kawasaki's first liquid-cooled four-cylinder engine with a dual overhead camshaft and 16 valves. It was a full-faired bike with diamond framing, which gave it a stylish and distinctive appearance. In 1985, The Ninja GPZ 600R was released as a middleweight bike, and again the Ninja was a high performer. Since 1984, the Ninja was produced as GPZ, ZX, and H2 models at varying times.
