Thanks to the recent release of a certain remastered trilogy, Spyro games are once again at the top of many people's video game wishlists. After so long out of the limelight, this classic series is once again set to delight new and veteran gamers alike, but potential buyers may have a few questions about it. Here are some things to consider before buying a Spyro game from eBay.

The main Spyro series includes 11 games overall, without counting spin-off titles, though one of those is a remake of earlier titles. The rest are quite a bit older and will be easier to find used, though new copies may occasionally be available as well. The series spans 8 different consoles, including:

• Playstation 1: Spyro the Dragon, Ripto's Rage, Year of the Dragon.
• Playstation 2: Enter the Dragonfly, A Hero's Tail.
• Playstation 4: The Reignited Trilogy.
• Game Boy Advance games: Season of Ice, Season of Flame, Attack of the Rhynocs, Orange: The Cortex Conspiracy.
• Gamecube: Enter the Dragonfly, A Hero's Tail.
• Nintendo DS: Shadow Legacy.
• Xbox: A Hero's Tail.
• Xbox One: The Reignited Trilogy.

Unfortunately, not in most cases. There are a few early models of the PlayStation 3 that can play PlayStation 2 games, but these are not common. Furthermore, even consoles that have the ability to play games for old systems may not run all old games properly. Fortunately, the Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a great option for those who only own new consoles but want to experience the original games.

Spyro games are an excellent choice for young players because they contain very little that most parents will find objectionable. The Reignited Trilogy (which is the game most young players will be playing due to ease of access and the more familiar controls and graphics) is rated E10+, meaning that it has been found to be suitable for children over the age of ten at the very least.
