Multiple uses of sanding discs
There are many sanding discs to choose from and each type has a different use. You will find discs for sanding down wood and others for smoothing off plaster filler. For heavy duty requirements such as car repairs, coarse gritted discs are used. There are also discs designed to remove old paint and varnish, ready for a new coat of paint. Finally, there are discs with very fine grit levels for light sanding and finishing off a variety of surfaces.
Sizes, grits and numbers per pack
Festool sanding discs are sold in packs of 10, 25 and 50 and are available in diameters of 90mm, 115mm, 125mm, 150mm, 180mm and 225mm. The diameter matches each power sander model's sanding pad for a snug fit.
Festool grit levels for their sanding discs range from 40 to 80, which are very coarse grits, to medium grit levels between 120 and 180. Coarse grits are used for grinding off stubborn substances such as rust. Medium grits are for quickly removing surface debris at the beginning of a job. There are also grits of 500 plus which are very fine and ideal for finishing off surfaces.
