Simon & Patrick Acoustic Guitars

Simon and Patrick Acoustic Guitars

Simon and Patrick is a brand name for a range of guitarsmanufactured by the Canadian company, Godin guitars. The company was founded by Robert Godin in 1972 in Quebec, when he started making guitars for himself.

Over the years the company expanded and now produces a range of guitars under different brand and model names. For example, the range of Norman guitars it produces are lower to middle range guitars.

Simon and Patrick guitars are in the middle to higher range and are a variety of acoustic guitar. (Acoustic means the guitar can be heard without amplification. The hollow body of the guitar helps the sound resonate and come out through the sound hole behind the strings).

Types of Simon and Patrick Acoustic Guitar

There are various different types available, including:

  • Cedar acoustic guitars – Simon and Patrick acoustic guitar made from cedar wood. Some people believe the tone of the guitar is affected by the wood it is made from
  • Spruce acoustic guitars – a different type of wood for making the guitar, which some people believe gives the guitar a distinctive sound compared to other types of wood
  • 12 string acoustic guitars – rather than the conventional 6 string guitar, these guitars have “double strings” for a particular type of effect when being played
  • Electro acoustic guitars – acoustic guitars with the ability to be amplified by being plugged in electrically

Simon and Patrick Acoustic Guitar Accessories

  • Acoustic guitar strings – guitar strings often break or wear out from being used, so replacement spare strings are often bought by guitar players
  • Acoustic guitar strap – allows you to play the guitar while standing up, through placing the strap around your neck
  • Acoustic guitar plectrum – many different types of plectrum (or “pick”) are available. They are used to pluck or strum the guitar strings instead of your fingers doing so
  • Acoustic guitar case – guitar cases help to protect your instrument. They come as either a soft of hard variety – the hard ones providing additional protection

Caring for your Acoustic Guitar

Simon and Patrick guitars can usually be simply cleaned with a cloth. You may, though, wish to use some kind of polishing material on the guitar to make it shiny.
