Charvel Electric Guitars

Charvel have been manufacturing of guitars since the 1970s. They became well known for their superstrat style guitars that offered a new spin on Fender’s famous Stratocaster guitars.

The superstrat often features a single humbucker pickup and bridge tremolo system on a Stratocaster style body. These guitars became popular with heavy metal players.

By the 1980s Charvel had become a well-known name in the world of rock and heavy metal music. Big name players such as Eddie Van Halen, Jake E. Lee and Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi were all names known for using Charvel.

Prior to 1986 when a Japanese made mass-produced series of instruments was introduced, all Charvel guitars were American made hand built custom instruments.

Caring for your Charvel guitar

  • Protect it by storing it in a suitable gig bag or hard case, especially when travelling
  • Avoid exposing it to extreme climates as this can be damaging
  • Keep it clean – polish your guitar to keep it looking clean and at its best
  • Rub down the fretboard with a dry cloth after use to keep it clean and maximise string life
  • Keep the strings fresh. Changing the strings regularly improves tone and playability
