Hagstrom Electric Guitars

Hagstrom was originally a musical instrument manufacturer based in Sweden. Like many other European instrument makers, the first products they produced were accordions. With the rock and roll boom of the 1950s, they started to make electric guitars.

Though the original company went out of business in the 1980s, the brand was brought back to life in the early twenty first century and continues to make a range of new guitars in China.

Types of Hagstrom Electric Guitar

There are several types of Hagstrom guitar available, including:

  • Solid body electric guitar – the classic shape for a modern rock or pop electric guitar.
  • Hollow body electric guitar – often associated with the early days of rock and roll, these can be played as acoustic guitars as well as electric guitars. (The hollow body allows the sound to come out from the sound holes louder, in the manner of an acoustic guitar)
  • Semi hollow body electric guitar – like the hollow body version, the semi hollow body electric guitar can be played acoustically as well as being amplified with electricity
  • Hagstrom Swede series electric guitar – one of the models of Hagstrom guitar that is available is the series with Swede in the title – eg Super Swede, Ultra Swede. These are a modern model manufactured since the brand was resurrected
  • Hagstrom vintage electric guitar – generally it is considered that any instrument made before the 1980s will be a ‘vintage’ model
