Delay Pro Audio Signal Processors & Effects

Delay Audio Signal Processors

Delay Audio Signal Processors are specifically designed for music producers and sound engineers, who use them to help create sound effects.

The delay aspect of the technology works by recording an input signal into an audio recording system, which then plays it back after a certain amount of time, whilst improving the sound in some way.

The sound created can also be controlled to play either as a one-off in a track or can be set as a cycle, so that it is repeated at certain times throughout the song.

Types of Processors

There are different types of processor, each with different purposes:

  • Compressors and limiters - help to reduce the volume or noise of some sounds.
  • Expanders - in contrast to a compressor, an expander works to increase the volume of some sounds or effects.
  • Modulation processors - add diverse ranges of sound effects, some echo or reverberation to a piece of music, giving it another layer.  They can repeat a singer’s voice to make it sound like there are more than two singers performing a track or add sounds that imitate common sounds heard in daily life, for example.
  • Equalisers - commonly found on many household stereos and can be used to adjust to tone or different elements of music, such as the bass or the treble. In this way, when there are unwanted sounds over a song this processor can be used to change an element of the music.

The Benefits of a Delay Audio Signal Processor

  • The processor is easy to use and opens up a range of sound options for engineers and producers.
  • A processor also assists with reducing or omitting unwanted background noises that may be picked up during a recording, as well as any ‘fuzzy’ noises, which result in a clean set of sounds.
  • A processor can be useful for a sound engineer who wants to adjust a song that is sung out of tune, making it sound near perfection.

Looking After Your Processor

Keep your processor stored in a clean and dry environment, unplugged when not in use.

You may choose to buy a stand can be bought to sit your processor on and you may also need to buy connecting wires to connect the processor to other types of sound equipment.
