About Bare Minerals Foundation

Bare Minerals cosmetics are based around a mineral rich compound which the makers call ActiveSoil Complex. They claim their proprietary blend of macro and micro minerals can increase cell turnover and provide broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection while creating a light 'no makeup' look and feel. Bare Minerals Foundation can be purchased separately or as part of a 'complexion perfection' palette which also includes related products like concealer and illuminator. Discrete foundations come in loose powder variants Original and Matte, which both offer SPF15 protection, and a pressed compact which is SPF20, and each comes in a range of 20 complexion shades and is made without parabens, fillers or harsh chemicals. Bare Minerals Original SPF15 foundation has been winning Best Mineral Base in InStyle's Beauty Buys Hall of Fame since 2011, and was named Best Foundation in QVC's 2013 Beauty Awards. The Matte version is a more recent variant. The latest innovation, Bare Minerals Ready SPF20 Foundation is a pressed powder foundation in a compact which they claim also significantly improves skin hydration and is also better at concealing open pores. It's based on their own SeaNutritive Mineral Complex of 'positively-charged sea minerals' and also contains antioxidants and cold pressed rose hip seed oil. The Sunday Times 2013 Style Beauty Awards named this product both Best Breakthrough Beauty Product and Best Foundation. Although it also comes in 20 colours, it uses a different colour range from the loose powders. All mineral foundations need to be applied with a suitable foundation brush.
