Fondue first originated in Sweden in the 1930s where bread was put into a pot that contained melted cheese. Decades later, other countries started to embrace fondue. A fondue-set can range in size from one to another. When bought for a party, a large fondue-set can be used by all guests to enjoy delicious snacks with everyone able to dip their favourite accompaniments into the melting cheese.
Although originally designed to melt cheese, other items of food can be put into a fondue-set, such as chocolate. Chocolate fondue sets are popular at parties for people of all ages, with people often preferring to dip their favourite fruits into the chocolate for a naughty-but-nice treat.
The pot in a fondue-set can be kept warm in a variety of ways. Little more than an hour after being put into a pot, your chosen food is ready to be dipped into it. A smaller set can also be heated with little more than a tea light which is ideal when there's only a few of you.
