About Michael Kors
Michael Kors is an American fashion brand founded in 1981 by fashion designer Michael Kors, originally known as Karl Anderson Junior. Kors was interested in and involved with fashion from a young age due to his mother's modelling career. The designer is also famed for designing the first line of ready-to-wear women's clothing for French fashion house, CÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂéline.
Michael Kors clothing captivates an all-American feel and was initially known for women's sportswear. Today the brand designs apparel for both men and women, as well as running a successful line of accessories. The label is arguably most famous for their line of ladies' handbags, sunglasses and dress watches.
Today, the Michael Kors fashion house has three collections; the Michael Kors Runway Collection, 'KORS Michael Kors' and 'MICHAEL Michael Kors'. The Runway collection is considered the premium label, where couture items can be found. The Runway collection is followed by the 'mid-tier' KORS line, which carries footwear and jeans, generally taking a more casual approach to design. The MICHAEL line includes women's handbags, shoes and ready-to-wear clothing and is arguably the most popular line within the Michael Kors brand, with the range of handbags in particular being a favourite accessory amongst the fashion elite.
Michael Kors was recognised as 'Womenswear Designer of the Year' at the 1999 CFDA Awards. By 2003, Michael Kors had won 'Menswear Designer of the Year'. A particularly popular item from the brand is the leather tote bucket bag, which is available in numerous colours and proves popular season after season.
