When choosing toys for the children, the options are limitless. Some kids prefer action figures, whereas others seek out almost anything to do with their favourite TV show. Some of the most popular toys, though, are those that mimic adult activities such as working, cleaning and cooking. Microwave toys have always been popular amongst the kids that like to play at being grown up.
At the most basic level, a toy microwave will simply mimic the household unit visually, with an proper door and a number of printed âcontrolsâ. On the more advanced models, though, things become even more realistic. For instance, some of them have a genuine timer controlled by real buttons, and also feature an internal plate which rotates when the microwave is âonâ, just as it would in real life.
Most toy microwaves will come complete with accessories in the shape of all the food you'd normally associate with it - burgers, hot dogs, chips, popcorn and even chickens, not to mention condiments. These are usually made out of simple plastic, and can be purchased as extras or as part of the main unit.
In terms of budgeting, toy microwaves vary. The highest level models will usually be in the £30-£40 range, though it is possible to also purchase toys for £15 or so if the little ones are able to go without some of the more realistic features. As ever, it's always worth taking a look at the different brands and doing the necessary research in order to get the best bang per buck.
