History of WatchesMaking it possible to manage time, watches play a prominent role in our lives
Watches have withstood the test of time
The first watches were created in Germany during the 15th century, and were typically worn as pendants. Referred to as clock-watches, these pendants could keep time with the help of rotating balance wheels and winding mainsprings that helped the hour hands move in sync. In the 1960s, the quartz watch was introduced, and took the market by storm. It continues to be the gold standard in watches of all types today.
