AQUALYX is the leading injectable fat loss treatment. It is available internationally when compared to Kybella that is available only in the United States.

AQUALYX was developed by the President of the Italian Society of Aesthetics and Medicine late professor Motolese and first introduced in 2009. Since than over 2,000,000 vials have been used for treatments in 49 countries worldwide.

AQUALYX is indicated for the non-surgical reduction of fat deposits located under the skin that are resistant to diet and exercise. It works by causing the breakdown of fat cells: AQUALYX is a gel based solution of exactly the same bile acid as our bodies produce in the liver - Desoxycholan. This bile acid makes the fat cells unstable and destroys them after which they are excreted through the kidneys.

Results of an AQUALYX treatment are permanent under the condition you maintain a constant weight: once the freed fats have been processed through your body’s lymphatic system, they don’t reappear. However, the procedure is only permanent if after treatment you follow a healthy diet and exercise frequently. If you regain weight, it is likely that the fat pockets will reappear.

Side effects of a treatment with AQUALYX are quite minimal when compared to such invasive procedures as liposuction. They include light burning, itching, redness and tenderness to the area treated which is a normal response and usually resolve within a few days. You may need to take some painkillers to control any pain-related side effects and use either Aqualyx Body Lotion for softening the irritation and tenderness or Chelaskin cream that relieves the redness and bruising.

If you are generally healthy and don’t have any skin diseases or infections in the area treated, there should be no reasons why you should not undergo this treatment. However, AQUALYX is not recommended to pregnant or breast feeding women and those who have been diagnosed with lipodystrophy or any pathological conditions. In addition, AQUALYX should only be used in people aged 18 - 60.

AQUALYX is an aqueous compound solution of 12alfa-dihydroxy-5beta-24-oico cholanic acid sodium salts which is a modified compound of Cholanic Acid.

AQUALYX is an injectable treatment of stubborn fat pockets located underneath the skin in such areas as saddle bags, thighs, stomachs, chins, knees and so-called “man-boobs” that represent pseudo-gynocomastia in men as a result of weight gain rather than the growth of actual breast tissue.

AQULAYX is used for body contouring and fat removal while conducting a specific form of injection lipolysis, lipotherapy or intralipotherapy called “Aqualysis” or “Aquaplasty”.

Potential AQUALYX treatment areas include:
  • Thighs
  • Knees
  • Buttocks
  • Below buttocks
  • Hips
  • Stomachs
  • Chin
  • Below chin
AQUALYX is a compound solution from the deoxycholate family. Deoxycholic acid has been used in various spheres of human medicine since its discovery. Present also in the human body, Deoxycholic Acid’s main function is to emulsify the fats for the absorption in the intestine.

However, AQUALYX is not a simple solution of deoxycholate like Kybella. It has been physically modified to make sure it gives minimal side effects compared to Kybella. Active composition of AQUALYX includes a polymer from 3, 6-Anhydro-L-Galactose and D-Galactose (0.5%), buffer systems (4.2%), sodium salt of (3α, 5α, 12α) - 3, 12-dihydroxy-5-cholan-24-acid (7.5%), water for injection (87%) and sodium chloride (0.8%).

AQUALYX represents a versatile treatment option for patients who are looking treat pockets of fat that are difficult to remove through diet and exercise alone. It is not a weight loss solution.

Along with AQUALYX, its inventor also developed an injection technique for “Aqualysis” (or “Aquaplasty”). It represents a special way of injecting the solution into localized fat deposit while using specially designed intralipotherapy needles. Once injected, AQUALYX liquefies the fat cells, destroying them permanently and releasing the lipids that are then eliminated naturally via lymphatic system.

During Aqualysis, an ultrasound device can be used to assist in the dissipation of AQUALYX throughout the localized fat cells.

AQUALYX treatment typically consists of two injection sites. A local anaesthetic – lidocaine – should be administered before the treatment commences. This should minimize discomfort during the procedure.

Treatment can take between 30 - 60 minutes per treatment and although some people may see significant results after just 1 or 2 sessions, typically you will require 2 - 8 treatments, 4 weeks apart: treatment for fat pockets underneath the neck and chin, for example, may require 1 - 3 treatments of 2 - 3 injections while treatment for fat pockets on the hips and thighs may require 8 treatments.

AQUALYX is biocompatible and biodegradable. It is manufactured in Italy by Marllor Biomedical.
