Energy efficiency labelling

Business sellers are legally required to display energy efficiency or performance information on listings for specific types of new electrical items and tyres that are available to buyers in the EU and UK.

As well as helping you comply with EU regulations, displaying energy labelling on your listings helps buyers make an informed buying decision by providing them with clear information about how energy efficient a product is.

Tip
For a complete list of product groups which require energy labelling, go to the European Commission Energy-efficient Products - opens in new window or tab site.

Keep in mind these rules apply to items you sell in the EU and UK, regardless of the registration country on your eBay account.

Energy efficiency labelling for electrical products

To get started adding the energy labelling to your listings, you'll need to create or revise your listing as usual in the new listing tool. You can add energy information to listings created as Single, not Multiple, only at this time.

If you need to display the energy efficiency labelling for electrical appliances, you'll need to add the energy efficiency rating and the EC range. Here's how to add this information in Item specifics:

  1. Go to Additional item specifics.
  2. Select the Energy efficiency rating dropdown and choose the value that matches your product.
  3. To add the EC range, choose a value from the EC range dropdown.

Once you've added the item specifics, you can upload the energy efficiency label and product information sheet. Here's how:

  1. Scroll down to the Item disclosures section.
  2. Select Show more and select the toggle next to Add energy efficiency documentation.
  3. Upload the image for both the energy efficiency label and the product information sheet. You can also add optional text for buyers with special access needs.

If you don't upload the documents, the energy efficiency label and product information sheet may still be added to your listing if you've added the brand, manufacturer part number (MPN), and the EAN in the item specifics of your listing and if the information is available in our third-party provider's database.

Tip
Images need to be in either .jpeg, .png, .bmp, .gif, or .tif format and should be at least 500 pixels on the longest side. If your energy efficiency label and product information sheet are in PDF format, you'll need to convert it using a PDF converter tool.

Where to find the energy documentation

You can find the energy efficiency labels and product information sheets for your electrical products in a number of ways:

EU tyre labelling

If you're selling new class C1, C2 or C3 tyres, you may be legally required to display an EU tyre label and product information sheet in your listings. This information provides buyers with important details about the performance of the tyre in relation to fuel efficiency, safety and noise.

If you've added the EAN for the tyre in the Item specifics section when you're creating or revising the listing, the EU tyre label and product information sheet will be added to your listing if the information is available in our third-party provider's database.

For more information about energy labelling for tyres, visit the European Commission - opens in new window or tab website.

To comply with EU regulations, you may need to display energy labelling on your listings for items available to buyers in the EU and UK. Depending on the products you're selling, you may be able to upload your energy efficiency label and product information sheet to your listing.
