Asked ebay to step in, still no response. now have to wait for the obligatory period for ebay to step in again and refund my money. seller did offer an alternative item but not prepared to take the risk given the issues with this transaction. When your asking top money for an item it should at least function as intended.

    A reliable and long life product

    This is the second Panasonic DMR-E227 which I have possessed and replaced the first one which had given me some years of problem free recording . I found the quality of recordings to be very good even in the maximum recordings of 8 hours . The first one was a brand new item whereas this second one is a refurbished unit which was not supplied with an original remote control and identifying the purpose of each key on the replacement remote takes a little time

    Anexcellent DVD recorder

    I had the same model, which I gave to my son, then found this one on offer to replace it. The controls and menu are easy to use and understand. Record and playback quality is first class and the display panel is clear, yet unobtrusive. An excellent machine in every way.

    can record up to 8 hours that is handy to record from cctv camera also can play RAM DVD's , but unfortunately not able to use a SD Card as it do not have the card slot as described in the manual, but is reorderable on all types of DVD, You can control both dvd & tv from the same remote control.

    No remote instructions

    Unfortunately, the generic non-Panasonic remote control that came with the dvd recorder did not come with any instructions. The recorder does appear to work ok though.
