About this product

Product Information

The first fisheye lens developed exclusively for use with Nikon DX Format. Ultra wide picture angle of 180° on DX sensor achieved by producing a smaller image circle (the size of the image that is projected by the lens on to the sensor) enables smaller lens diameter, lighter weight and optimal image quality from center-to edge-to-corner on the image. The lens is equivalent to 16mm focal length on 35mm. Minimum focus distance of 0.14m (5.5 in.), or 0.03m (1.2 in.) from the lens front, makes extreme close-ups possible. Close-Range Correction (CRC) provides high performance for sharper images when taking pictures up close. Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass element minimizes chromatic aberration. Design enables a combination of wider angle-of-view with optical characteristics that are optimized for Nikon digital SLR camera sensors. Nikon D-type design provides precise distance information for flash and ambient light exposure processes. Rounded diaphragm to make out-of-focus elements appear more natural. G Type DX Nikkor is designed exclusively for use with Nikon Digital SLR models.

  • Great (16mm) wide lens for DX cameras

The 10.5mm lens is for use on the DX series such as D500, D300 etc. Multiply the focal length by 1.5x due to cropped sensor and you have your true focal length (in 35mm format terms) It's an easy to use lens, although sometimes your exposure can be thrown by the vast field of view you take in. Distortion is to be expected, it makes for some fun perspectives in your photographs - sometimes you want it, other times it might become tiresome. However here is the trick and probably what many people won't tell you. When editing photos if you use good editing software you can correct this with a single click. In Lightroom 6 it's already programmed in as a lens profile adjustment. This makes light work of a typically tiresome task. Very compact and lightweight, almost smaller than a 50mm ...

  • Great lense for getting them wider shots! Best thing you can have for astro photography! And at 2.8 it's amazing for shooting the milky way & aurora

Use this for night work shooting the milky way and catching the northern lights, amazing lense and fast! The fish eye effect isn't that strong depending on where you place your horizon (middle) but with little post processing it's not a problem at all, this saves you having to stitch several images together when using something like a 17mm 2.8, amazing lense. Although not easy to find a lens cover for it!

  • An ace card in your camera bag

I shoot weddings and this little gem is a perfect little piece of kit to add a few spectacular, eye-catching perspectives to the set. I love it. Brilliant for astro-photography, too. I've managed to capture many photos of the Milky Way with it.

  • CombatPhotos

Fantastic lens which takes very sharp photos and it also feels very robust for its size. Never used a fisheye before but it's a must for your lens collection!!

  • Not for every day

Fisheye lenses are great for occasional use. Immense fun to use though and this lens produces beautiful images.
