A LITTLE MASTERPIECE
Stephen Frear's first film, and what a little masterpiece it is. Funny, exciting, atmospheric. And what a ball Albert Finney is having! Not to be missed. The book it's based on is great too, by Neville Smith. Worth tracking down...

Hilarious Albert Finney
This is such an enjoyable fim. I love seeing 70s England, London especially and the setting in this movie are really nostalgic. A very witting film with Finney at his best. Another hidden gem from the Classic British collection.

Dentist is more fun
Tongue-in-cheek comedy is nearly as much fun as having root canal treatment. Albert Finney plays a tenth-grade comic and bingo-caller who deludes himself that he is a Bogart-like private eye. And that's it, really. A waste of an evening.
