About this product

Product Information

'Amanda's life is one of old-fashioned values, hard graft and plenty of love. She, like her life, is extraordinary' Ben Fogle Millions of viewers of Our Yorkshire Farm watched Amanda Owen, husband Clive and their nine children share their daily lives at Ravenseat, one of the most remote hill farms in the country. It's a beautiful place, high in the Dales, and a rewarding existence close to nature. But Ravenseat is a tenant farm and may not stay in the family, so when Amanda saw a nearby farmhouse up for sale, she knew it was her chance to create roots for the next generation. The old house needed a lot of renovation and money was tight, so with her usual resourcefulness Amanda set about the work herself, with some help from a travelling monk, a visiting plumber and Clive. It's fair to say things did not go according to plan . . . In Adventures of the Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda brilliantly evokes life on the farm, as the whole family search for a missing new-born calf, much loved Shetland pony Little Joe defends his honour and the brutal winter of 2018 almost brings her to her knees. As busy as she is with her family and flock she also manages to transform a damp and dark old house into a dream home. Funny, charming and filled with unforgettable characters, this book will delight anyone who has hankered after a new life in the country.

Thank you. This 3 book collection was shipped, very well packed, and delivered very quickly. The "very good" condition of them all was an accurate description. The fact that photos of the actual books for sale, and not stock photos were shown by this seller, was a one hundred per cent positive for me, thankyou. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this seller.

    ADVENTURES OF A DIFFERENT KIND

As far as I am concerned Amazing Amanda can do no wrong. She's today's version for all sorts of readers as Enid Blyton.but no adventures in castles, caves and caravans...oh I don't know she owns a shepherds hut. However as the Famous Five goes there is nine children plus animals in different type of adventures and the writing she bestows on us you wouldn't think you could get so much interest from the Owen farm. I've somehow become a big, big fan of hers and I would truly love to meet her and as James Herriot was her hero so be it for me.

  • A much awaited further installment in the Owen family life.....

Such a wonderful read..this is the third book about this family and their way of life.....it takes me back to my childhood, where I too grew up with nature and freedom to learn things about rural life. Lots of magic moments and a new home is secured....

  • Brilliant read

Such an amazingly down to earth story of everyday farm life in the wilds of the dales. An extraordinary woman with stamina and energy producing 9 children in amongst the trials and trubulations of labour and even a home delivery. Wonderfully written makes addictive reading. Refreshingly clear and down to earth
