    An enjoyable read

Ben Macintyre is one of my favourite authors his work is always well researched and very enjoyable read , this book is no exception I would recommend it as a good informative read.

  • An amazing document and written so well to be so easily "enjoyed".

As usual with Ben Macintyre the book is extremely well researched and seems to communicate the experiences of real people. The way that "class" played such a part of prison life is shocking but understandable to a point. The point that it was a prison for the German guards is very well made too. Just a great book that I can't put down.

  • Life inside the POW camp in Colditz Castle

A very compelling & sobering account of life at this 'elite' POW Officers camp. Having visited Colditz this book is easier to understand by having visited this 'scary' building and seeing much of the inside with some escape routes on display.

  • The Great Escape!

This book is purchased as a present and, having only just arrived, has not been read. However, Ben MacIntyre has never written a bad book and is always thoroughly recommended. A signed edition is particularly valuable.

  • A great choice for a person interested in the subject.

Bought for a gift but it looks really interesting and the print is not too small.
