Great album! I would recomment it to all Spice Girls and Geri Halliwell fans. As it is a first solo attempt, other albums are more interesting, but you should appreciate it as a part of Spice girls history.
Geri was the first Spice Girl to go out on her own and begin a solo career all her own. To be fair, it started promisingly with this debut - renamed because the intended title "Schizophrenic" was believed to cause offence. While hardly a pop masterpiece on the order of the Spice Girls, Geri's step into the solo arena does an acceptable job of refashioning her into a "grownup" diva. The generally underdeveloped material doesn't help but the thin-voiced Halliwell manages well enough with the pop-funk numbers. This album is based on her experiences over the previous year and shows a maturing Geri. "Look At Me" is bombastic pop with a 60s camp feel to it that would fit perfectly on an Austin Powers soundtrack. "Lift Me Up" has a Spice-ish quality and features smooth multi-layered harmonies. "Walkaway", a wistful, well-orchestrated ballad, showcases Geri's fine, but minimal vocal talents and is an obvious reference to her departure from the top female group. The remainder of the album employs a variety of styles, as evidenced by the Spanish-pop of "Mi Chico Latino". Pop fans will thoroughly enjoy the album as it is one of the best from the Spice Girls solo careers. It's a shame Geri didn't repeat its success.Read full review
excellent album de geri halliwell qui est pour moi la seule des spice girls à avoir reussir sa carriére solo. Cet album est divisé en deux parties semon l'humeur de l'artiste ange ou démon. Les meilleurs morceaux sont pour moi look at me, lift me up, bag it up, et surtout mi chico latino. Un album qui est pour moi merveilleux ou elle a mis tout son coeur pour ne pas decevoir ses fans et les personnes qui l'attendaient au tournant.
This album is one which anyone will be surprised with. I had never noticed what a brillient artist Geri was. On this album she displays her songwriting and singing talents, displayed in a very anti-ginger way...less in your face but more in your head, a beutiful way to get to a listener. Geri is proving something here, which I know see now that all the Spice Girls have done solo stuff, which is the term too many cooks spoil the broth. Together the girls are Great, apart, they're breath taking, and Geri is the best of them all, even Mel C! I think this album has a few weak points, but not many, and the whole thing is super, and 100% enjoyable, the best songs being Look at Me, You're in a Bubble and Bag it up. Everyone should have this album to enjoy and chill out to.
Excellent album!!!!! 9 of 10 songs like me very much and 1 less. I think that is best album Geri Halliwell, I recommend this album!!!!!
