I have the unit connected via the HDMI end into a GPU and then a VGA cable to my monitor and the PC has no problems picking it up. I've also used a Nintendo switch with the unit and works perfectly fine. The downside is that this unit doesn't have a audio run-off if connected HDMI-end into a PC, a console etc. etc. You'll have to use other audio out-put from the PC audio ports or the switch's headphone port, Won't be suitable for use with a PS3/4 or Xbox 360-elite/One(s). I assume this was meant to be used HDMI-end into a TV/Monitor but I've not tested it that way around. Lets say your graphics card has a spare HDMI port or two and a VGA-only monitor, You want to add a 2nd or 3rd screen (if your card supports it), this is exactly what you need.

I tried this to run a Powerpoint presentation from my Windows 10 computer on an Optoma Data Projector. With a bit of prsusion it eventually transferred the background image of the desktop on the Optoma screen, but it stayed that way. When I tried to run the Powerpoint presentation it just didn't transfer to the data projector. I am told by Optoma that it is not possible to 100% convert HDMI to VGA. I just wonder why my new Windows 10 machine doesn't have a VGA port

Represents the best value-for-money I could find for this type of HD HDMI to VGA Converter with Audio, which does not require any additional power source. It works perfectly well with my laptop casting to a large monitor and external speakers.

Worked fine for converting video from HDMI to VGA, producing a good quality image. Couldn't get sound from the device, which wasn't a problem from my application as I took the sound output from the laptop headphone socket.

The cable worked fine connecting an older pc monitor with d type connection to my new laptop with a hdmi connection. The volume was a little low, but that may be the monitor.
