This cable enables me to join my M-Audio to my Mac. It fits into an adaptor that fits a thunderbolt connection on the computer. It works well. It is of good quality.

FireWire 800/400 9 pin to 6 pin cable
Excellent cable, only drawback is it's slight lack of flexibility (expected with a good quality cable). Used to connect old White MacBook to FireWire 800 enclosure. Faster data transfer than USB 2. Also used, successfully to run old OSX (Leopard and Snow Leopard on partitioned external SSD) without any problems. Would buy again if necessary.
