An actuator with a travel limit switch on each side of the push bar automatically disconnects when the bar reaches the bottom or top. When you cut off the power, the actuator will stop in its tracks and stay there, thanks to a self-locking system. Keep an eye our for linear actuators with low noise levels, less than 42dB, for quiet running. 

Or, go for an electric wireless linear actuator for something that's perfect for picking industrial machines. These actuators can move without changing their stroke length, making them perfect for use if you have limited space. 

Wireless actuators use a remote control for complete and precise control over the motion. These controllers typically feature forward and backwards motions, with a stopping function too. Others come with clockwise and counterclockwise controls too for motor controls. 

You'll typically get up to 50m of range with these linear actuators so you can control them from across the room. Commonly available as either 12V models or 24V linear actuators, you'll be able to find something to suit your exact needs. 

Stroke length is also something to take into consideration when thinking about your needs. At the larger end, 36, 40 and even 60 inch stroke lengths are available for larger applications. On the other hand, smaller stroke lengths of one inch are perfect for more compact needs.
